I really love how happy she looks in the picture where she's wearing the green and yellow outfit. And it is comforting to see that her orphangage looks clean and bright.

Adopting?!
In case you missed the first blog entry explaining how this all came to be, I thought I'd put a little explanation here. Last December, I was looking at pics of special needs orphans. I know that this is a random thing to do, and I honestly don't even remember why I was doing it. I certainly did not have any intentions of adopting one of the children on the site when I first started looking, but once my eyes were opened to the reality of these sweet little children with no families of their own and really not much hope at all, I couldn't pretend that I didn't see what I saw. And so I knew we had to do something. I have always believed in my heart that I would adopt a child someday; I just hadn't guessed it would be at this time. When I saw Katya's picture, I felt an attachment to her and started to pray about her situation including whether or not we were the family meant to adopt her. When I told Jon about it, instead of thinking I was crazy, he prayed about it and tried to listen to what God would want us to do. And he decided that he could open his heart to this little girl and that he felt that opening our home to her is what we were supposed to do. So here we are. Katya has a type of craniosyntosis and needs medical attention as soon as possible. In her country, she is seen as disabled and will be sent to an instituton very soon. That is why we need to move very quickly with this adoption. We are praying that God's will be done and that all obstacles to this adoption be removed:financial barriers, time restraints, agency and paperwork problems, political changes, medical issues, personal/emotional concerns, etc. If you would like to help or support in any way, let us know. There is also a link where you can make a tax deductible donation. The adoption will cost about $20000 dollars we think. Katya needs lots of prayer, too (as do we).
Oh, she's so sweet! Thank you so much for sharing them with us!
